Sunday6th October 2024at St Egwin’s Middle School, Worcester Rd, Evesham

Registration at 9.30am – Prompt Start at 9.45 am

  1. All competitorsmust reside in the Wychavon Parish or Ward they are representing.  This is because it is an Inter-Parish Competition.  Where a person resides between more than one Wychavon Parish/Ward, they may only play for the Parish/Ward in which they predominantly reside. Being on the electoral roll for a Parish does not in itself constitute residency.
    • Competitors who are studying full-time at University or College will be eligible to compete for the Parish/Ward where they normally reside until they have completed their course.
    • Where an ineligible competitor has been found to have breached these rules, then that Parish/Ward will forfeit all points gained in that event.
  2. The team details must be recorded on the team sheets, provided by WPGA, which were sent to Parishes that have entered.  This is for Insurance and Health and Safety reasons.
    • The team sheet must provide the following details for each team member: name, full address with post code and date of birth, and it must be signed by the player. By signing the team sheet, the team member confirms that he/she is medically able to take part in the event and is doing so at his/her own risk.
    • The team sheet must be handed to a member of the Committee before the event starts.
    • If a team does not comply with the requests above or fails to provide the team’s details, then they will not be allowed to enter the event, unless there are circumstances which were beyond their control.
  3. Where a Parish/Ward has entered an event, but does not take part, they will be deducted 2 points from the Parish/Ward’s overall total unless they have given the WPGA Secretary 48 hours’ notice of their non participation, or there were extenuating circumstances.
  4. Any queries prior to the event should be made to the Event Organiser or to the WPGA Secretary before 9.00pm.
    • Following the event, any dispute or protest must be made by the Team Captain to the WPGA Secretary within 24 hours of the event.  In the first instance, this can be done verbally, and only by the Team Captain, so that the facts can be established.
    • If the matter is not resolved, then any further protest should be put in writing to the WPGA Secretary within 7 days of the event taking place.
  5. Abuse of any of the people identified in the WPGA Abuse Policy will not be tolerated by the Committee.  (Team Captains and competitors must be made aware of the contents of this policy.  This will be included in the pack sent out with the rules.)
  6. Once a team has withdrawn from an event, they will not be allowed to re-enter.
  7. A team shall consist of a minimum of 2 players, aged 14 or over on 01.01.2024.
  8. A player cannot play in both the Junior and the Senior Table Tennis events.
  9. Each match is made up of four Singles and a Doubles, played in the order laid down on the results sheet.  The same player must play in the two Singles matches, but different players may play in the Doubles.
  10. Each individual match will be the best of 5 games – 11-up.
  11. If a Parish/Ward has only one player, it may be possible to pair this player with an individual player from another Parsh/Ward, sharing the points gained. However, Parishes/Wards may only do this for two consecutive years, after which they must field two players from their own Parish/Ward.
Parishes/Wards must inform the WPGA Secretary in advance if they are likely to have only one player.
  12. If a player is not present at the time his/her individual match is due to be played, the individual match will be forfeited.
  13. Table Tennis England approved Laws of Table Tennis will apply.
  14. The Umpire’s decision is final on all matters of fact.
  15. 15.The balls used will be approved by Table Tennis England for the current season and will be white. The main colourof theplaying clothes should be clearly different from that of the ball. Bats and balls will be provided, although players may use their own bats if they wish.
